Very similar in many ways to the watercolour of the same scene by Langmaid and also in Maritime Prints’ collection (see MP 059) though in this one we see the Big Class sporting a variety of rigs. Those familiar with this stretch of the Solent will instantly recognise Ryde pier and churches which over the years have changed little in appearance.
