This image showing in the foreground HMS TIGER (Captain Henry Pelly MVO RN), will be well known to all Wyllie followers as an etching (see MP058): here, from a private collection and not seen outside the family home before, is a watercolour by WLW of the same scene.  It was commissioned by the ship’s company of HMS TIGER as a present of appreciation for the Captain's wife, Mrs Pelly, who had taken a great interest in the welfare of the ship's company when TIGER was away for long periods at sea during her first commission, 1914-1916.
